About Me
Sarah Benson is an educator, conductor, and performer currently based near Baltimore, MD where she is teaching Elementary General Music and Elementary Choir. She studied Music Education with a choral and general music focus at Miami University of Ohio. Sarah also has specialized interest and knowledge in disability studies and critical youth studies. In addition, she is an accomplished soprano with experience performing as a soloist with Miami University Choirs, within special recital programs, and as a Vocal Apprentice with Berkshire Choral International.
Sarah believes in the importance of music as an integral part of school curriculum due to it's academic and social impacts on students. She also is a firm believer in development of a "brave space" in the classroom culture. Her classroom is founded on students as the center of the curriculum and the main drivers of learning. Sarah is proud of her role as a guide to students' learning and development as people and musicians.
